Aircraft Information File (AIF) Has Been Updated!
The Aircraft Information Files (AIF) has been updated to reflect current CAP call sign terminology on the VOR page of the "VOR Test Record-Fire Extinguisher Inspection" in Tab 3. Towbar Checklist Item added to all Aircraft Checklists!
In order to reduce the number of towbar related incidents, all CAP standardized online aircraft checklists in the NHQ database have been revised to include the “Towbar-Removed and Stowed” item, in compliance with the CAP National Commander’s “Towbar Incidents” directive dated 23 April 2013.

G500 & GTN-650 Courses are online in Ops Quals!
In order to enhance current aircraft capabilities, the Civil Air Patrol is installing technologically advanced avionics equipment into fleet aircraft to include G500 & GTN-650 avionics packages for C172s, C182s, and C206s. Learning material provided by CAP offers a standardized G500 & GTN-650 education for the pilots who will fly these aircraft. The G500 & GTN-650 courses may be conducted as self study, or by the preferred method of an instructor led course, providing CAP’s pilots with the knowledge required to operate this equipment. The G500 & GTN-650 course material is located in Ops Quals on the Training Material Page.

Aircraft Portable Fire Extinguisher Guidance & AIF Updated!
CAP's aircraft portable fire extinguisher guidance has been updated, as well as the Aircraft Information File (AIF) "Current Version of Contents" page and "VOR Test Record-Fire Extinguisher Inspection" page to reflect the revised fire extinguisher guidance. This change clarifies the fire extinguisher label inspection and monthly requirements. Standardized aircraft portable fire extinguisher guidance is provided to enable aircrews to determine whether their fire extinguisher is in serviceable condition and ready for use. Aircraft Information File (AIF) Has Been Updated!
The national operations team has updated the Aircraft Information Files (AIF) to aid CAP members with enhanced aircraft maintenance awareness. These changes are provided to increase awareness of required engine overhaul inspections and corrosion prevention treatment, as well as to increase efficiencies by relocating the monthly fire extinguisher inspection. The AIF Cover Page has been updated adding “Engine Overhaul” and “Corrosion Prevention Treatment Guidance”. The monthly “Fire Extinguisher Inspection” is moved to Tab 3 with the VOR Test. Updated AIF pages include the following: AIF Layout Instructions, AIF Cover Page, the Current Version of Contents Page, and the VOR Test Record-Fire Extinguisher Inspection pages. New CAPF 5, CAP Flight Evaluation Form, is updated and ready for Use!
A revised version of the CAPF 5, dated Jan 13, is posted for use in the capmembers.com web site on the Forms, Publications & Regulations web page. The minor changes include adding “Instrument Demo” back to the Additional CAP Endorsements section to minimize confusion, as well as removal of “AF(J)ROTC Orientation Pilot” from the Additional CAP Endorsements section, as the single “Orientation Pilot” endorsement may be used to satisfy both CAP & AF(J)ROTC Orientation Pilot form 5 requirements. The new CAPF 5, dated Jan 13, is posted for immediate use, all previous versions of CAPF 5 are obsolete.

G1000 Is Now A CAP Form 5 Endorsement!
We are happy to announce that, in a joint NHQ/National staff effort, CAP has completed a significant improvement to the way we process G1000 qualification data. The process changes have been implemented to provide increased efficiencies in both pilot utilization and much needed efficiencies in a robust and very complex Ops Quals/WMIRS flight data management system. Your cooperation and patience during this transformation has been much appreciated throughout this very important process of progressing forward with much needed Ops Quals/WMIRS system improvements. DOV Contact List is Operational!
For all DOVs (Unit Stan/Eval Officers): The national DOV contact list is now up and running. This DOV contact list provides DOVs, at all levels, throughout CAP with increased opportunity for crosstalk and collaboration. Access is limited to members currently filling DOV positions. The national DOV contact list is located in Ops Quals under the “Reports” menu item; once there click on the dropdown box and scroll down to “DOV listing”.

Air Crew Emergency Training (ACET) Course Is Launched!
There is always a possibility that a pilot may become incapacitated during flight; this course provides guidance to other crew members pertaining to survival measures they make take during such an occurrence. Although CFIs are trained to teach primary flight students, training for survival requires specialized focus. Therefore, this online Train-the-Trainer course has been developed to provide guidance in this area and will be required before participation in the program. This course has been approved for Non-Pilot Mission Observers on a voluntary basis. Course materials are located online in eServices through “Learning Management System” (LMS) found in the “Operations” section in the LMS.
