THE CIVIL AIR PATROL INSPECTOR GENERAL SENIOR LEVEL TRAINING
A Civil Air Patrol Inspector General Senior Level Training Course is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, 13-14 August 2011. The training is scheduled at the TransPac flight training facility on Deer Valley Airport in North Phoenix, AZ. Non-comuting students should plan to arrive on Friday, 12 April. Sign-in will be Saturday morning at 0730 at the class site. Classes will be all day Saturday and will be released by 1700 on Sunday.
Cost: There will be no cost associated with this course. Students are on their own for refreshments and lunch. There is a coin-operated canteen at the facility for food and drink and the airport resturant is just a few feet away from the class site.
Billeting: No specific rate deals have been arranged. However, the following are the recommended hotels based on quality and price:
Comfort Inn; 2641 West Union Hills Rd (Corner of Union Hills Rd and I-17) (602-978-2222). Senior rate/non-smoking King is $62.10; non-smoking two double beds is $71.10. They have a continental breakfast and free Wi-Fi.
Drury Inn and Suites; 2334 West Pinnacle Peak Rd (Corner of Pinnacle Peak and I-17) (623-879-8000). Two queen beds is $98.99. Rate includes hot breakfast, wireless, 3 drinks at night with snacks and 1 hour free long distance per night.
The Drury Inn is new and is recommnded if you're planning to share a room; however, the Comfort Inn is nice.
Directions: The Deer Valley Airport is approximately 1 mile east of I-17 (exit 215) on Deer Valley Road. When you enter the airport from Deer Valley Road, TransPac will be to the right. Please park in the large parking lot directly ahead of you as you enter the airport.
Student Requirements:
Space is limited. All applicants must be current members of Civil Air Patrol. Applications will be accepted in the following priority:
- Applicants assigned as Wing or Region Inspectors General or assistants.
- Applicants assigned as Group, Wing or Region Commanders
- Applicants assigned as Group, Wing or Region Vice-Commanders or Chiefs of Staff.
- Applicants assigned as Legal Officers.
- Other interested members with the approval of the CAP/IGT.
- Members of Southwest Region will have priority over all others.
Uniform Requirements:
AF blue shirt with or without a tie or CAP aviator shirt with or without a tie worn in accordance with CAPM 39-1. Laptop computers are encouraged, but not required.
