CADET OF THE YEAR

Recognized by the Air Force Association, the CAP Cadet of the Year must demonstrate outstanding leadership in CAP as well as academic excellence. The nominee must have earned the Amelia Earhart Award and be a current CAP member. The Cadet of the Year receives a one-year membership in AFA and a commemorative plaque.
Air Force Sergeants Association Cadet NCO of the Year

New Mexico Wing
Awarded to the cadet noncommissioned officer who exhibits outstanding qualities in the areas of followership, leadership, self discipline and aerospace education.
JACK SORENSON CADET PROGRAM OFFICER OF THE YEAR
This award recognizes the Cadet Programs Officer who has contributed most to Civil Air Patrol Cadet Programs. It is named in honor of John V. “Jack” Sorenson, considered by most to be the architect of the revised Cadet Programs in practice in CAP since 1964.
SQUADRON OF DISTINCTION
An annual program established to recognize the top CAP composite or cadet squadron regionally and nationally for distinctive accomplishments in the cadet program during the preceding calendar year. One Squadron of Distinction is selected for recognition at the Annual Conference Recognition Ceremony each year.

Frank G. Brewer CAP Memorial Aerospace Award
Air Force Association Award
Air Force Association AE Cadet
of the Year Award
An annual award at the national level for a cadet's outstanding aerospace education contributions. Separate from the Brewer and Cadet of the Year awards. For details, see CAPP 15.
Air Force Sergeants' Association Cadet NCO of the Year Award
An annual award for the most outstanding cadet non-commissioned officer at the squadron level. For details, see CAPR 39-3.
Veterans of Foreign Wars'
Cadet of the Year Award
An annual award for an outstanding cadet at the squadron level. For details, see CAPR 39-3.
The Congressional Award
A multi-faceted award program recognizing young people who excel in volunteerism, personal development, fitness, and exploration. For details, see CAPP 52-5.
President's Active Lifestyle Award
Because the primary goal of the cadet physical fitness program, to develop a lifelong habit of exercising regularly, is closely aligned with the President's Challenge, cadets may qualify for President's Challenge Awards. For details, see President's Challenge.

Quality Cadet Unit Award
Any cadet unit that displays strong program fundamentals can earn the Quality Cadet Unit Award. Awarded by NHQ each year, based on objective criteria. See the QCUA page for details.
