The Red Ribbon Leadership Academy places high school aged cadet NCOs and officers in front of middle school students (non-cadets) to serve as role models and leadership educators during a 3-hour workshop. The "red ribbon" symbolizes the Academy's role in promoting the drug-free ethic.
Program Goals
- To equip middle school student leaders with a basic understanding of the art and science of leadership.
- To promote the drug-free ethic among middle school student leaders by using CAP cadets as role models.
- To provide a venue for cadet officers and NCOs to apply their leadership skills.
- To increase the Cadet Program's visibility in the community and boost cadet recruiting.

Requesting Materials
Squadrons can request materials from National Headquarters before hosting the RRLA. If you have trouble with the form, please print out and fax it to 334-953-4242 or email the requested information to Margaret Probst. In turn, National Headquarters will send the RRLA curriculum guide, student guides, certificates, wallet cards, posters, and additional supporting materials. Please send your requests 8 weeks prior to the planned RRLA activity date. Be sure to coordinate your event with your wing's DDR Administrator. While any unit can teach the RRLA (at any time of year, at any school location), the host school must be within 30 miles of an Air Force installation in order to submit a request for materials, which have been purchased using 'fenced' Air Force Surgeon General funds.
Final Report
Upon completion of a RRLA, please complete the RRLA Final Report. In turn, National Headquarters will send the squadron a Certificate of Appreciation. If you received a materials kit from NHQ, an After Activity Report in the eServices Drug Demand Reduction Reporting module is also required within 15 days of your event.
