CAPP 52-12, Required Staff Training, has been updated and is available in draft form on the Cadet Proving Grounds. This training is required for all staff, cadets and senior members alike, at cadet activities lasting 4 days or longer. The new materials include an instructor guide, student guide, and PowerPoint presentation.
The principal author of these materials is Capt Jackie Briski of Virginia Wing. The updated course is a 90-minute guided discussion that combines concepts that volunteers learn in Operational Risk Management and Cadet Protection Policy training. It has a hands-on focus that draws on material from CAPP 52-23, Cadet Protection Policy Implementation Guide, as well as 14 new case studies. This course will replace the 2002 version of Required Staff Training.
The draft version of CAPP 52-12 has also been posted to the Required Staff Training page, and may be used now to train staff members for spring and summer activities. If you use the new curriculum, be sure to send us your feedback!

Will the new RST curriculum still require the second part regarding ORM? It seems as though many of those questions are now included in the base curriculum.
[ The new RST curriculum includes an ORM analysis of the activity you are staffing, which is built into the 90-minuted guided discussion. -Becci ]
